OK, what do I need to know before coming for my sitting?
Here's basic grooming and dressing info for the whole family: Please make sure that everyone is cleanly shaven, hair neat and fingernails clean. If you want bare feet, please make sure they are all clean and groomed. Hair should be in the style that's usually worn. Don't get hair cut right before the sitting, have it cut one week in advance. We suggest planning your wardrobes so everyone looks good together. Classic solid-colored clothes photograph best, loud prints (plaids, stripes, etc.) photograph badly. Extreme styles will outdate your portraits quickly. Your family should be the most important subject of your portrait, not their clothes. Please pre-plan where your portrait will hang. Will the colors you wear look good in the room? Will the clothing clash with your existing color scheme? Please call Steve if he can help you in preplanning where your portrait should go. To add weight, try bulky sweaters, textured fabrics, wide belts in bright colors, bloused or gathered shirts, warm or pastel colors, horizontal lines. Don't wear sleeveless shirts. Slips under light-weight fabrics shouldn't detract from the clothing lines. Most important, make sure that everyone's socks match their pants! Please make sure all shoes are clean. |
